I have helped two of my clients file complaints one with a nurse and one with an OB. Still haven’t heard anything.
So if reporting sexual assault to a hospital/board/etc is basically meaningless and creates no action, then why don’t patients report it to police and take it out of the medical arena, I wonder?
I’ve worked with a couple of patients who have tried this and neither went forward. The police didn’t want to take the reports.
Never helped file a claim though I tried, not for assault but for racist remarks. A local midwife said she would help me and then never did. The process was far too confusing and the family was not hellbent on filing so we just dropped it. This situation is actually a big reason why I wanted to take this course!
Cassandra, I’m sorry. That’s tough. For future, check out our newest resource at https://birthmonopoly.com/how-to-file-a-complaint-for-mistreatment-in-birth-or-obstetric-violence/. We’ll be talking a lot more about this subject next month, too, on our Jan. 6 call and with the release of the manual on how to file a complaint.
